Grow Your Blog Link up

Hey Guys,
Check out this awesome link up I am co-hosting !
Welcome to the Grow Your Blog Link Up!

It's a link up specifically for new bloggers (those with less than 500 followers per social medium are welcome too). It's also a chance to meet other new bloggers, and hopefully build networks and friendships.

There are no fees for co-hosting. Just email me at onechocolatebox@gmail.com if you're interested.

Link ups start every Wednesday at 3pm NZDT (that's Tuesday 6pm PST and Wednesday 1pm AEDT if that helps).

Each week, one participant will be randomly selected, and gets featured on the following week's blog hop. More free exposure!

There'll also be a giveaway from time to time, so make sure to check back each week.
1. You don't have to, but I'd appreciate it if you could follow One Chocolate Box.

2. Follow the co-hosts! Let them know you're following from the Link Up, so they can follow you back.

3. Link up in the appropriate section using your blog URL or profile URL. Remember you can only link up in the section if you have less than 500 followers in it.

4. Visit and follow at least 1 other blogger. Let them know what you like about their blog.

5. Return the love, follow your new followers!

6. It would be super if you shared the Link Up via Facebook or Twitter. The more people join up, the more potential followers you can get.

7. I'd love you forever if you grabbed the button below and place it on your sidebar!

A big welcome to my lovely co-hosts this week:

Erica at The Visser Clan
Jenn at Hello Gutentag

Thanks so much for co-hosting ladies!
This week's feature is Kristen over at Happiness Is A Mood, Not A Destination.

Happiness Is a Mood Not a Destination

Make sure to go say hi to this lovely lady. Also check out her sweet letter to a graduate. Such a beautiful, touching letter!

And without further ado... link up, link up!

Inspired- Guest Post

Hey guys today I want to introduce you to an awesome blogger
he came to me and emailed me and asked me if he could guest post on my blog and I said sure !
he asked me what to write about and I told him to write about what inspires him when it comes to writing , so here it is !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started writing when I was a teenager, for the same reason that a lot of the other kids my age did - depression. I wrote poems that would make even the hardiest men squirm. However, slowly, I began to explore topics other than depression through my verses. From then on, it morphed into more and more forms. As of now, I write lyrics for songs, proses for spoken word and also maintain a blog where I tell stories and express ideas. Up until now, I never quite sat down to think about what inspired me to write, but when Jenn asked to write about it, I began to contemplate on what exactly drives me to keep on writing.

1. I make sense of things through writing
In life, there are lots of things that make you wonder. For me, it's mostly about society and its norms. Why do people get obsessed over the latest iPhone? Why are those in need treated with either apathy or patronizing sympathy? Whenever I have these questions racing through my mind, I would pick up the pen. The ink starts to flow across the page. As I write, I'm forced to think about the problem in very specific ways. If the sentence that I just wrote doesn't sound right, I would re-rewrite it. If the sentences need to be re-arranged, I would put them in the proper order so that it would be more coherent Mostly, what I write is very short; sometimes it's only one or two lines. I write down what I see; I write down what I think of; I also sometimes write down what I did - if it's important enough - in order to 'explain' to myself what just happened. Writing is how I make sense of the world and my experiences with it.
2. I have specific goals for writing
This is perhaps the biggest difference between me writing now and me writing when I was 15. Imagine two men who are swimming. The first only does it because he enjoys doing it, but the second does it because he's preparing for the Olympics. Which man do you think would be more motivated and persistent in swimming? Because of that, I write so much more now. Currently, my goal is to have 100 published posts on my blog (I'm 10 posts shy from achieving that) and also to write a 5,000 word e-book. While achieving these goals doesn't necessarily mean I'll be a great writer by the end of it, it is undoubtable that I will be a better writer. Knowing that I have a target, pushes me to write even more. ; having something to chase after is inspiring. The feeling can even be addicting, especially when the goal can be achieved incrementally (and I suggest that your goals are like that too), because when you can measure yourself, you can feel satisfied about what you have achieved so far and be excited for what waits for you at the peak. Other than that, we all live only once, so why waste it by having no direction? Writing is how I push myself to achieve bigger and bigger things in my life.
3. I want to live through my writings
Two weekends ago, I was in Paris for the third time, but it was my first time at places like the Pantheon and Versailles Palace. The Pantheon, aside from being one of the most famous architectural monuments in the world, is also interesting for another fact - it hosts the tombs of many great French public figures. My brain went into deep thought when I saw, in large letters, names like Voltaire and Descartes. These men have been dead for centuries, yet their names are still uttered by at thousands daily and are mentioned in countless writings. While I'm not specifically aiming to down in the books alongside Plato or Ibn Sina, I am constantly reminded of the fact that while people may die, their ideas can live on indefinitely. What I write, has the potential to live on even till the end of time. It may not survive in its current form; it may morph into other ideas, and then be flipped upside-down, then back again, but a trace of it will live on. It's similar to how parents live through their children. While the bits of themselves will be diluted more and more further down the time-line, it's undeniable that they are in a way, surviving through their descendants - ideas are my descendants. Writing is how I ensure that I will never die.

For the love of dog - Guest Post

Hi guys
Today I want you to meet this lovely blogger and her story about her dog.
This blogger is a huge inspiration to me as she is a young blogger and she doesn't write nonsense.
shall we get started ?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rewinding back a few months, I lost my beloved dog. My little tea-cup Maltese; Maddie. She rather lived a long life. Longer than the expected life of a 'tea-cup' puppy. Healthy and well taken care of, at the age of 10.

Oh wait, I never introduced myself. Well, let me properly introduce myself: Jordan Silberman is my name. I’m a 15 year old ‘Lifestyle and More’ Writer and Blogger, as well as a soon-to-be author of my own book (in the works), but I can’t add that to my resume just yet.

SillySilberman is my blog, my brand, my business… my LIFE. I think of my followers as amazing friends. They have opened me up to many opportunities. They deserve more than just a label.
Anyhow. I lost my puppy, a huge devastation for the family, especially for my Mother. She received Maddie as a surprise Christmas gift.

She passed from a crushed trachea. It was kind of a sudden thing too. I noticed she was breathing like she was underwater, that gargling noise. I insisted that my mother and I immediately take her to the vet. We got there and all they told us what that she needed emergency surgery and to get to the medical group asap, 40 miles away.

Rushed her to the medical group following an extremely long day. We practically was there for hours. She ended up passing on the next morning due to her trachea being shattered and crushed from a growth that was there. Sad. So we put her down instead of having her suffer on the machines. :(

------------------------------

My father works in the entertainment business. We own a couple companies in the industry. So we deal with hundreds of clients daily. My father was on the look-out for a new dog about a week later. A client, who was apart of a rescue team for animals, came in with the cutest Maltese-Terrier mix. Black ears, White body, and a little bit of Grey right at the tip of his tail.

While out-and-about with my mom, she got a text followed with pictures of the tiny dog and a phone call saying it was in the office.

She stated that when she saw the dog "I knew that it was okay to let go, and be okay with another dog".

(ignore my younger sister's mouth. LOL)

This is Charlie, a Maltese-Terrier mix, a hyper little boy. A good friend of my parent's is Owner & President of the Kris Kelly Foundation, a very well-known rescue and adoption foundation here in Venice, California. She rescued now 'Charlie' from a dumpster in South Bay.

What kills me is look at this dog... IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVER!! Who would throw this thing away? Sadly, he is still overcoming his fear of big items. He starts to squeal and scream when a big dog walks near him, or if someone takes full trash bags and walks by him.

My mother has a feeling that he was used as 'bait'. Bait meaning used to rile up other dogs for dog fights.

Anyhow, that is the story of how I've come to be an owner of the cutest puppy. As of now, Charlie is happy, healthy and full of energy. He's grown huge since we brought him home about a month ago. He's only around 6 weeks old!

Do you have any dog stories?

I hope everyone will go and check her out :)

Walked into a toddler room

Hello everyone

This is normally the part where I start Sunday social but today I've  decided to skip it. it will be back next week I promise !

Instead I'm going to tell you about something that happened at work last week.

It was a regular Tuesday morning I walk in and my boss pulls me over and says

"Jenn I've been thinking about this for a while now and I think I want switch you and *toddler teacher* and have you in the toddler room and her down stairs. I am only saying this is because I can see your frustration level is going up with the preschoolers. are you okay with this ?"

and I replied... YES I'm totally fine with this.
I only said yes because those preschoolers can be a handful, I love them to death but someone else needs to see where I'm coming from (they plain out don't listen to me).

So this past week has been a breeze working in the toddler room with another teacher there are 8 toddlers in that room , they may not listen to you but they do what you say in the end.

In the end I would be happy wherever they put me , I just love children !

Can anyone relate to this quote ?

Ps look out for a guest post this Tuesday on a very inspiring blogger :)

Hello November !

Well November sure came fast !

It feels like just yesterday was the first of October!
We celebrated Halloween here at the day care, we had a dance party and played pin the nose on the pumpkin then the children got to go trick or treating. One of the parents of a child gave all the teachers a chocolate wrapped up as a mummy
I thought that was the coolest thing ever!

Then when I got home I handed out some candy then took the boyfriends stepsister out trick or treating, (got some candy out of that haha)

Yesterday in the classroom we welcomed November, it is a very rainy and stormy day so we had to stay inside we did stations this morning. We played with sand and water play, playdough, free drawing, blocks and hopscotch the children had lots of fun! We even counted down till Christmas!

Is it acceptable to play Christmas music now ?
